Mid July 2013 saw the completion of the concrete shell on Tank B at QCLNG (Queensland Curtis Liquefied Natural Gas project), which is being constructed by Bechtel Australia on Curtis Island, Gladstone. These tanks are 90 metres in diameter and 40 metres in wall height plus the roof. In total approximately 15,000m3 metres of concrete has be poured in Tank B, with the final roof structure being poured in 5 consecutive days and a total of 2500m3 of concrete placed on the roof over these five days. With the use of 3 x Putzmeister MX42 metre placing booms and 3 x Putzmeister BSA 2109 High pressure trailer pumps the entire concrete pouring process has been hassle free, and stream lined due to a great team effort between Meales and Bechtel management.
Late October 2013 is scheduled for the final roof pours on Tank A, which will then also then mean the completion of all major concrete pours on the LNG tanks for the QCLNG project. |
